Manchester United Latest: Benteke Linked And Coentrao Ready To Prove His Worth

Christian Bentecke with 15 goals has been Aston Villa's Saviour

It was almost a sure fact that he would move out of his club in the summer but ultimately Christian Benteke decided to stun everyone and sign a new contract with Aston Villa. And what a revelation he has been for Villa in the new season! The Belgian has continued from where he left last season.

But Paul Lambert must be aware that a player of Benteke’s class would not stay at Villa for a very long period and sooner or later he would move on to a bigger club. And that speculated move may come as early as January with Manchester United manager David Moyes eyeing the Belgian sensation as Robin Van Persie has reached 30 and his form would certainly dip within a couple of years and Rooney still seems unsettled at the club.

Chelsea may also come back with an offer for Rooney in January or next summer and this time the manager may not be able to prevent the Englishman’s transfer.

Under these circumstances, Moyes wants a young and dynamic player as his number 9 whom he deploys in that role for a long time to come. Christian Benteke, who has been such a phenomenon since his move to the Premier League from Genk in 2012, seems to fit the bill perfectly and thus Moyes could try and lure him away as soon as he gets the opportunity.

The Express quotes that,

MANCHESTER UNITED are considering making a January move for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke – with manager David Moyes personally scouting the Belgian during his country’s 2-0 victory over Scotland on Friday.

In other news, Manchester United’s late activity in the transfer window meant that they missed out on Real Madrid defender Fabio Coentrao on a loan move and reportedly that failed move reduced the Portuguese player to tears. But Coentrao now insists that he did not feel upset when the deal failed and that he would like to prove his worth to Real Madrid.

“There was the possibility of joining Manchester United, but I stayed at Real Madrid, and that’s what matters,” Coentrao mentioned to Portuguese paper O Jogo.

“It would have been bad if I had to stay despite having the chance to move to a better club, but that didn’t happen as I am already at the best club in the world. I want to do better than I did last season, although I was at a very high level already. I want to show everyone that I deserve to be at Real Madrid.”
