Manchester United’s season so far has been disappointing and not just for the fans. While Louis Van Gaal got vehemently criticized by the fans, players too were not happy with the team’s performances so far. This led to players thinking of leaving the club.
Victor Vlades is one such player, who was desperate to escape from the Old Trafford. Valdes moved to Standard Liege in the winter transfer window, and so far the player seems happy with his move to Belgium.
Valdes spent most of his time in United on the bench with no first team chances coming about his direction and this seem to have prompted the player’s move to Standard. He wants more first team chances as well as have fun while playing football.
He said: “At Manchester United, I was just sitting on the couch and training during the week. When it became apparent there was an opportunity to come to Standard, I didn’t hesitate one moment. I realised that I could play for the first team and find some fun in football again.
“That’s the most important thing. To be quite honest, I had no other choice. Standard’s bid was the only concrete one.”
Further Vlades shares a special relationship with Liege’s manager Yannick Ferrera born out of speaking the same language and an ease of communication. As such Vlades is glad that his Manchester United nightmare is over.
