Manchester United: 3 Reasons Why This Young Tackler Will Be A Hit At The Theatre Of Dreams

Manchester United are on the verge of making a really important signing at least in terms of filling up a position, with United not being able to defend as well as they would have hoped, they have always been in the search of a good central defender and it seems that they finally have found one in Aleksandar Dragovic, the defender plays for Dynamo Kiev.

Dragovic initially came to the spotlight thanks to a great spell at Basel before he secured a move to Kiev , the 23 year old might be moving to United for the fee of around £15 million and we look at 3 reasons as to why the Austrian international will be a hit at the Theatre of Dreams.

Reads the game well

The one thing Dragovic is known for is his ability to read the game, more often than not he will not lunge into a tackle but will read a situation before doing anything. It is often his defensive partner that moves up to try and close the attacker while Dragovic stays back and tries to deal with the situation.

Manchester United do not have a defender who can read the game, their central defenders have all been hit and miss and Dragovic could certainly help them in that aspect of the game.

Great Tackler

The other thing that a defender must be good at is being able to tackle but being a great tackler is much more important. Well timed challenges can make a huge difference for any team and Dragovic is one of the best tacklers in the game. At just 23 years of age, he still has some time to grow but his sense and tackling ability are much better than expected for a 23 year old and would greatly help a United team which does not really have a good tackling central defender.

Good with the ball

With the system of playing 3 defenders at the back, Manchester United need to have a player who can deal with the ball at his feet. Dragovic is very comfortable with the ball and can pass the ball around the back to start attacks or just control the pace of the game. Dragovic does not provide a lot of stray passes which is really important to the playing style that Manchester United are using at the current moment.

Dragovic would certainly be an upgrade compared to most of the defenders in the United team and at still being only 23 years of age, he has an incredible amount of time to learn and become better at Manchester.
