Man City Vs Arsenal: Combined XI featuring 7 Cityzens and 4 Gunners
Manchester City faced a defeat against bottom-half side Newcastle United in the midweek and put in an extremely lacklustre display. But as we’ve seen in the past, City tend to come back from setbacks like this in devastating fashion.
Arsenal travel to the Etihad on Sunday in hope of getting a win so as to take control of 4th place. They didn’t play overly well against Cardiff but just had too much quality in their side for the Welsh opposition.
This fixture promises to be a goal-fest as both teams need this victory and moreover, Pep Guardiola didn’t look happy at the end of the game at St.James’ Park, so he will be expecting a reaction from his players and he usually tends to get what he wants.
Here’s a team including match-fit players from both sides based purely on form:
Combined XI
Formation: 4-3-3
GK – Bernd Leno
It was between Leno and Ederson, and if it wasn’t for the Brazilian’s minor knee injury in midweek, he would’ve taken this spot. However, Leno hasn’t been bad at all.
RB – Kyle Walker
Possibly one of the best full-backs in the world, his sheer running power and strength make him an exceptional talent. Add his crossing into the mix as well and you have a world-class player.
RCB – Aymeric Laporte
Given Arsenal’s current curse with injured defenders, City players can take the core of defence. Laporte has been excellent all season and has become a key figure.
LCB – John Stones
Stones has also been very good and if an English player is able to keep defenders like Kompany and Otamendi out of the XI, then he must be doing something right.
LB – Sead Kolasinac
His runs from the back have been useful to Emery’s men this term and while he does look like a raw footballer, he shows good intelligence while defending.
RCM – Fernandinho
The Brazilian rock in the heart of the City team, he has singlehandedly won them multiple points this season. Capable of chipping in with the odd goal as well, he would be a crucial part of this side.
CAM – David Silva
The Spanish wizard has been in the midst of everything positive that City have done this term and with De Bruyne just returning from injury, he edges his way into this team.
LCM – Matteo Guendouzi
The Frenchman has been a revelation since moving to North London and has shown the maturity of a seasoned professional. His game against Chelsea would’ve filled Emery with confidence.
RW – Pierre Emerick Aubameyang
The Gabonese striker has been in sensational goal scoring form for the Gunners and is their biggest goal threat from open play and since he has played at right-wing for Arsenal, he can play there.
ST – Sergio Aguero
Still the number one talisman in the Premier League, Aguero boasts an almost inhuman scoring record and would casually walk into this team’s starting XI.
LW – Leroy Sané
The German winger has been consistently producing the goods for Pep’s side this term and has certainly matured in his decision making as well.
