Forget it Pep – Man City signing this £60m superstar would be an absolute waste of money

Manchester City opinion: Guardiola shouldn’t go for Nabil Fekir

Pep Guardiola has finally done what he started out to do when he first joined Manchester City. His team is now dominating English football. The domestic treble is proof of just what the club can do and with a few changes, they could go very far in the Champions League.

That’s been his biggest struggle since leaving Barcelona, with a certain Argentine stepping up when required. But at both Manchester City and Bayern Munich, the Spaniard doesn’t have anybody like that and that has changed things.

It’s why the furthest he’s got since then is a semi-final with Bayern. They’ve always fallen short and it’s why Guardiola is still at Manchester City coming up on his fourth year with the club.

His longest tenure before that was the four years he spent at Barcelona, with a three-year spell at Bayern Munich after that.

The Spaniard knows that he has to target the right players and make sure to add the right replacements. Both Fernandinho and David Silva are growing older and they are doing it with style but there’s only so much longer they can play football.

But replacing the Brazilian will be harder than replacing the Spaniard, especially since Bernardo Silva’s arrival. The former Monaco man has proven to be a sensational addition and done exceptionally well in Silva and Kevin De Bryune’s absence.

It is also why a move for Olympique Lyon star Nabil Fekir makes no sense whatsoever, with the Manchester Evening News reporting as such.

The 25-year-old is a wonderful player and Manchester City would do well to get him, but not when they already have someone like Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and even Riyad Mahrez.

All three men are more than capable of doing what Fekir will bring to the team and given the Frenchman’s price-tag, it does not make sense.

However, that won’t happen, not if Manchester City decide to go and waste £60million on a player that they don’t need. It would be detrimental to Fekir’s career and it will affect the morale at the Etihad Stadium

Conclusion

Nabil Fekir is a world-class star and one that would do very well in the Premier League. But that wouldn’t be the case if he joins Manchester City in the near future.

The Cityzens need a central midfielder more than an attacking midfielder, which is why they need to look elsewhere.
