Managers with No More EPL Credit

The English Premier League is currently the home of the most illustrious managerial names in the world of football. Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte, Jurgen Klopp, and Mauricio Pochettino all ply their trade in the English top tier.

However, the EPL has also been the hunting ground for much more inferior managers who secured their place at the dinner table by providing clubs with certain guarantees such as finishing in the top half of the table or surviving relegation. These are usually home grown managers and most of the time they are appointed at relegation threatened or mid-table EPL teams.

And while some of these managers are really good at what they promise, some of them have been managing to steal a living by flattering to deceive and beating their own drums. In this article we will take a look at two such present or former EPL managers and we will explain why their time in the EPL is most probably up.

Tony Pulis

The Welshman is currently a manager of Championship side Middlesbrough, but has previously had quite an extensive EPL experience, mostly with relegation threatened sides such as Stoke, Crystal Palace, and more recently West Bromwich Albion.

Pulis has been lauded as the man who guarantees EPL survival and the for a club going down almost immediately increased after his appointments in the past. This was because he managed to stave off relegation during his time at Stoke and was also very successful at Crystal Palace and in his first and second season at West Bromwich Albion and managed to finish the season in 11th place at Palace and in 13th and 10th place respectively at WBA.

However, his third season at WBA was full of poor results and poor performances which went to that extent that even the fans that originally backed Pulis . His style of play was particularly upsetting and annoying WBA fans, and while they were able to tolerate this when the results were good, they said enough was enough when they had to watch the same style of football, but without the points to justify it.

Sam Allardyce

Sam Allardyce is the man who claimed that if his name sounded more foreign he would definitely get a chance at a top club. He almost got his chance with his appointment at Everton, but has so far failed in his efforts to prove himself.

He was always considered to be a specialist in securing a team’s survival, but the Englishman also seems to think that he has potential for more in him. However, if recent defeats to clubs such as Bournemouth (1-2), Watford (0-1) and Burnley (1-2) are anything to go by, he seems to be deluded more than anything else.

On top of this, he has also undermined his integrity by being involved in various scandals, such as the one which led to his , and his time in the EPL is almost definitely up.
