Man Utd Opinion: Why should Man Utd revive interest in Marco Verratti?
Manchester United have fared well so far in the current transfer window, having signed Harry Maguire, Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Only a few days away from the end of the transfer window, United have to deal with procuring major midfield reinforcements, mainly due to the exit links of Paul Pogba. At the same time, they also need to fill the void left by Ander Herrera.
Moreover, Nemanja Matic is in the twilight of his career, leaving only a bunch of young talents like Scott McTominay in the middle of the park.
Going forward, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can’t afford to instil all the responsibility on the youngsters. Instead, he needs a leader in command, someone who is highly experienced and should be a torchbearer for the fellow midfielders.

Having been a long-serving player for the Parisians since joining them in 2012, Verratti has evolved into a dynamo in the midfield, especially as a deep-lying playmaker.
He has enjoyed overwhelming success at Parc de Princes, winning 17 titles with PSG alongside a multitude of individual trophies.
Besides that, the former Serie B player hasn’t been off-colour over the course, as he hasn’t missed out on a place in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year since his debut season.
Given that, Verratti should be the one to play the anchoring role at Old Trafford under the Norwegian manager.
The 26-year-old couldn’t play to the fullest in the 2018/19 campaign, as he was dealing with injuries. Anyhow, he was still able to garner a pass success percentage of 91, with an average of 1.1 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game in the Ligue 1. Defensively, he averaged 2.8 tackles per game.

Solskjaer can extract the best out of Verratti should he deploy him either as a central midfielder or a deep-sitting playmaker.
