Man United would be extremely clever to sign this Crystal Palace star to solidify their obvious weak spot

Why Man United should definitely make a move for Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Manchester United have not made the best of starts to their Premier League campaign and further illustrated it after failing to pick up a win against Crystal Palace last weekend. The Red Devils are currently outside the top four and have a huge job on their hands.

They have conceded a total of 23 goals in 14 games this season. Jose Mourinho’s side have failed to show the defensive resilience they maintained so well last season. The manager surely has to dive into the transfer market when it reopens in January.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester City are interested in making a move for Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka. But it’s the red side of Manchester who are currently in need of defensive reinforcements.

United should aim to make a move for the young full-back in January. He has been in splendid form after breaking into Palace’s first-team this year. After coming through the ranks of the Eagles’ youth academy, Wan-Bissaka has shown a rapid rise in his level, playing a pivotal role for Roy Hodgson’s side this season.

He has been a tough defender to beat and has shown superb work rate down the right flank. Wan-Bissaka has won the most number of personal duels among all the players this season. He has won a total of 103 one-on-one duels and has shown great defensive diligence. (Stats courtesy – Premier League)

The 21-year-old has also averaged a tackle success rate of 71% in the league this season. The fact that Wan-Bissaka has managed such a tally after facing the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur over the last few weeks underlines his potential as a defender.

Though there are areas that need improvement, he has certainly proven to be a defensive machine and is also very good going forward. Wan-Bissaka surges up and down the field to provide support at both ends. He has managed to pick up 1 assist in his 13 league appearances this season. (Stats courtesy – Whoscored)

The youngster would definitely fit into Jose Mourinho’s pragmatic style of football played at Manchester United. The Red Devils are also in need of a new right-back themselves, with a number of their stars coming of age or going out of contract in the summer.
