Man United signing this 25-year-old Serie A ace would get them a perfect partner in crime for Lindelof – Agreed?

Man Utd Opinion: Why should United consider signing Daniele Rugani?

According to a report from Mirror, Manchester United are interested in signing Juventus centre-back, Daniele Rugani, who is also on the transfer radar of Arsenal.

While Harry Maguire remains the priority for the Red Devils, the deal looks complicated, as Leicester City are demanding £90m  for their star defender. (h/t Mirror)

Is Rugani a safe bet for the Red Devils?

United were dealt with a hammer blow, following the injury of Eric Bailly in the pre-season friendlies. With the Ivorian set to be on the sidelines for around six weeks, Rugani is the need of the hour for the Red Devils.

Since breaking into the main team in 2013, Rugani has been deprived of playing time, as he couldn’t beat the likes of Bonucci and Chiellini in the first place, despite being immensely talented.

The 25-year-old has made only 87 appearances and still managed to make full use of limited opportunities.

Even with just 15 appearances in Serie A last season, the Italian centre-back held a pass success percentage of around 90 with an average of 3.4 clearances and 2.7 aerials won per game.

Rugani is quite adept at passing and aerial battles owing to his tall build and also can be used on either side of the centre-halves. Furthermore, he is an ideal fit for Solskjaer, who builds the play from the back.

The defence was a let-down for the Norweigan manager the last term, as United failed to reach the top four.

Eric Bailly

Barring Victor Lindelof, key figures like Phil Jones, Ashley Young, Chris Smalling looked out of sorts throughout the campaign. Going forward, the Swedish defender needs to be teamed up with a perfect partner in crime and Rugani would be a great option.

Final Verdict

United have been productive in the current transfer window, as they have added the likes of Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to the squad.

While the Red Devils are in the market for a new centre-back, they can make a move for Rugani, as he has already proven himself in a highly competitive league like the Serie A.
