According to a report from the Metro, Manchester United are considering a move for DC United’s Luciano Acosta in the summer. The report reveals that the Red Devils sent a scout to watch the 24-year old and United are set to make a move for him in the summer.
The Argentine is highly rated in the MLS and his performances in America are enough proof that he has a bright future ahead of him.
Manchester United even have former superstar Wayne Rooney’s approval on the signing, with the Englishman claiming that Acosta is one of the best players he has played with.
Manchester United are in the hunt for a number 10 with Juan Mata expected to leave the club once his current deal ends in the summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to make a huge impact in his first summer window to repay the club’s faith in him and also to compete with the Premier League’s best next season.
Luciano Acosta could prove to be a real gem if they manage to sign him in the summer. The 24-year-old could be available on a cut-price deal in the summer with his current deal at the club expiring in December.
Acosta rose to the spotlight in the 2017/18 campaign where he was a star in the MLS. The Argentine scored 10 goals and provided 15 assists from attacking midfield in a phenomenal campaign for DC and a move to a tougher league is the next big step he needs to take for his development.
Acosta is like a combination of Santi Cazorla and Lorenzo Insigne. The Argentine possesses incredible skill, composure and technical ability on the ball like the former Arsenal man but his pace and ability take on players with his dribbling skills is very similar to the Italian.
Standing at only 5ft 3in tall, Acosta uses his low centre of gravity to twist and turn around to get away from his marker and the 24-year old’s pace and dribbling skills make him unstoppable at times.
The midfielder has shown brilliant composure in front of goal and is also a fantastic finisher. Acosta is also incredibly unselfish and rarely ever ignores a teammate in a better position.
This trait of his makes him an exceptional team player and someone who Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would love to have in his side.
Manchester United will have a real gem on their hands if they manage to sign Luciano Acosta in the summer. The 24-year old, having played over 100 games for DC United, is not short of any experience and he would thrive in Manchester United’s free-flowing attack.
