Manchester United opinion: Milan Skriniar could solve Solskjaer’s defensive woes

AS English has reported that Real Madrid are set to win the race for Inter Milan center-back Milan Skriniar. The Los Blancos are looking to rebuild their team and the Slovakian has been considered for the same.

However, given Manchester United’s interest in the past (Manchester Evening News), this is a move the Red Devils need to hijack. At the moment, barring Swedish star Victor Lindelof, no-one has lived up to the bill.

The likes of Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, and Phil Jones have looked shaky many times during their United careers.

For a club that is looking to re-establish its dominance in England and the European stage, it is imperative to have a strong back-line. The Slovakian star is good enough to improve any side in the world.

Skriniar joined the Nerazzurri only last summer but has already established himself as the first-choice centre-back. Under Luciano Spalletti, the 23-year-old has grown into a world-class defender.

He has been under the spotlight since his move to Inter and has been scouted by the likes of Barcelona (ESPN), Manchester City (Daily Mail) and now Real Madrid.

He would be a great addition for Manchester United, as he has very strong defensive attributes. An old-school defender at heart, Skriniar also has the athleticism of a modern-day center-back.

The young centre-back’s intelligence to anticipate danger before it takes place, much like Juventus legend, Giorgio Chiellini, is rather interesting.

He also has the composure and the willingness to receive the ball in tight areas, which makes him the perfect individual to lead the Red Devils into the future. It’s a move that will undoubtedly be beneficial for Manchester United.

Conclusion

With Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford, and David De Gea, United have a decent spine to work with. But they need someone like Virgil Van Dijk or even a Nemanja Vidic to make that step up. Milan Skriniar is more than capable of being that player.
