Man United beating Chelsea to sign €38m Serie A star in January would solve their right wing problems

Why Manchester United should beat Chelsea to Suso’s signature

As per a report from Tutto Mercato Web, Premier League giants Chelsea are keen on signing on AC Milan star Suso.

After moving to Anfield in 2010 at the age of 17, Suso made his debut for Liverpool two years later but failed to establish himself as a regular in the senior team under then manager Brendan Rodgers. Having spent a season away on loan at Almeria, the winger moved to AC Milan in January 2015.

And in the last couple of seasons, the diminutive Spaniard has managed to weave his magic in the Serie A and has established himself as an important cog in Gennaro Gattuso’s Milan side. Suso has started the new season in a brilliant manner, having already netted seven goals and supplied four assists in just 10 Serie A outings.

The Spaniard’s performances haven’t gone unnoticed and Chelsea are preparing to activate his €38million clause, as per the report. The clause in Suso’s contract expires in July 2019 and is valid only for foreign clubs.

Manchester United should look to sign Suso in January following their poor start to the new Premier League season. The Red Devils currently sit 8th in the Premier League standings and are in desperate need of new signings, with manager Jose Mourinho clearly dissatisfied with his squad.

Other than a solid centre-back, United also need a specialist right winger to add that much-needed impetus to their attack. Juan Mata has been often used on the right but he is a classic No.10, while the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard have underperformed in that position.

For all of United’s quality, they have been lacking a creative influence on the right wing and Suso’s arrival could help the club address the blatant problem.

A right winger by trade, Suso would bring creativity and purpose down the right. He is quick, agile, industrious and is a technically gifted left-footed player who is capable of providing the flair and the width that United’s attack has often lacked in recent years. The diminutive Spaniard is a fantastic dribbler and his ability to hold on to the ball in tight areas is second to none.

Suso tends to drift in from the right and carve open defences with his special abilities. His high work rate, directness on the ball, set-piece abilities and clever movement make him a quintessential Mourinho player.

Furthermore, the Spanish attacker is a dynamic player and has the ability to pick out the right pass in the final third.

United have lacked the creative magic going forward this season despite the array of attacking talent Mourinho has at his disposal. And in Suso, the Red Devils would get a player capable of producing moments of brilliance.

Hence, United should do everything they can to fend off interest from Chelsea and add a player of Suso’s calibre to their ranks in January.
