With a win over Leicester City on Monday night, Manchester City have officially taken the Premier League title all the way to the final day. That hasn’t happened too often in the league’s recent history and it shows just how intense the 2018/19 season has been.
Both Liverpool and Manchester City have fought tooth and nail to get here, but there is just one final hurdle left. However, Manchester City are deemed to be the favourites as only a loss and draw plus Liverpool winning will ensure that they don’t lift the title for the second consecutive year.
If the Cityzens continue dominating the league like they have been doing, then Brighton have little to no chance of beating them. Despite having a near perfect team at their disposal, Manchester City have a few problems to take care of in the summer window.
Ilkay Gundogan has already refused a new contract with the club and that does pose a small problem (Telegraph). The German has really made the midfield his own this season, with various injuries helping him do that.
However, he knows that his position in the team is based on various injuries to the other first-team stars, hence, Gundogan is looking to move on.
Replacing him will be a little tough but not impossible and the Leicestershire Live has reported that Leicester have joined the race for Youri Tielemans.
The 22-year-old has had a rather fantastic couple of months in the Premier League on loan with Leicester City, showing that he can adapt to a more physical league. Incredibly talented, Tielemans had a breakthrough season with Anderlecht before he moved to Monaco.
With the club struggling, Tielemans followed suit and failed to make much of his limited appearances. Things changed with the move to Leicester City and in just 12 appearances in the Premier League, the Belgian starlet has contributed to 8 goals.
This includes five assists, which puts him amongst the Foxes’ most creative players. However, where he does come into play for Manchester City is the fact that he’s averaged 1.9 tackles, 1.1 key passes and a passing accuracy of 85%.
That puts him above nearly every midfielder, barring Fernandinho, when it comes to tackles and just below Gundogan when it comes to key passes per game.
Tielemans’ passing accuracy is the only thing that really has to improve but with a team like Manchester City, that should automatically happen.

Youri Tielemans is incredibly talented and has a long long way to go before he hits prime, which is why Manchester City should take full advantage right now.
The Belgian would be arguably the perfect replacement for Ilkay Gundogan at the club and his last six months have already shown that he can flourish in the Premier League.
