Madrid Tricksters Or This French Goal Machine – Who Should Be Manchester United’s Next Marquee Signing?

Despite getting heavily involved in the summer transfer window by making necessary additions in every of the 3 main outfield positions, Manchester United still don’t look like the team to beat.

Bailly has hit the ground running at the back, and while Zlatan has hit a snag in recent performances, Pogba is entirely yet to find his feet. Mkhitaryan hasn’t been able to prove himself yet having picked up an injury back on matchday 4.

So, Mourinho’s heavy spending has been met with mixed reactions in some quarters. But the Portuguese will once again launch deep into the market – winter and in the coming summer to add needed and necessary additions.

La Liga trio; Isco, James Rodriguez and Griezmann who have all been linked with a switch to the Old Trafford in recent transfer windows are still on the club’s radar.  But which of these 3 will be a perfect fit for the Red Devils?

Griezmann’s repertoire

At 25, the France international has already carved his own reputation of being a prolific goalscorer in a league that has Ronaldo, Messi, and Suarez.

With 50 goals in 81 league appearances for Atletico Madrid, the winger is definitely one of the goal machines in the world, and if luck had been on his side in the past few months, he would have added a Champions League and/or a European Championships winners medal to his name.

Where will he fit in?

Mata has been quite the revelation at United this season, but Griezmann is an upgrade on him in the attacking midfield position.

Having struggled on the left wing upon arriving Vicente Calderon, Simeone drafted the former Sociedad star into the middle, and he has been on an explosive form ever since.

Playing Griezmann right behind Zlatan will be perfect as their partnership will surely yield devastating effects. Also, in a midfield of 3, he is able to pair Pogba in a more advanced role, using his speed in counter attacks and helping to refine the creativity in the heart of the midfield.

Verdict : Very Perfect for Manchester United

Isco’s repertoire

Isco
Isco

Isco and the word “substitution” go parri passu. He’s undoubtedly one of the most talented playmakers around, but he hasn’t been to exert his presence on the Madrid lineup at any point in time.

From a Golden Boy to a habitual benchwarmer, the tides haven’t turned favourably for the 24-year-old. But there is still time to save his dwindling career.

And leaving Real Madrid will do him good as he doesn’t look capable of proving his quality at the 4th season of asking.

Where will he fit in?

Isco’s attacking versatility is second to none, and he will play everywhere from central midfield, attacking midfield to the wings.

Alongside Pogba, right behind Zlatan and in place of Martial/Mkhitaryan/Rashford/Lingard, Isco will deliver, but does he look capable of upstaging any of the quartet and Mata to clinch a starting spot?

Verdict : Not perfect for Manchester United

JamesRodriguez repertoire

James Rodriguez
James Rodriguez

Just like his Real Madrid counterpart and fellow benchwarmer, the future of the Colombian skipper is in doubts at the Bernabeu

Although he has recently started to regain relevance, but starting XI duties are still his concerns for now or the foreseeable future.

The former Monaco ace is an excellent midfielder on a good day, but given the extra brilliance of Kroos and Modric, he is a level below them in the pecking order.

Nevertheless, that hasn’t taken away from his standout abilities of creating chances, carving out passes, and scoring goal of the season contenders.

Where will he fit in?

Apart from his lack of defensive duties, James will give Herrera the run for the money. His attacking qualities and goalscoring prowess are slightly much more than the Spaniard’s.

However, playing him alongside Pogba will be an outright calamity, as none can perform defensive midfield duties well enough. James can also operate effectively slightly further up the pitch, but then, Mata looks to have made that position all his already.

Verdict : You decide!!!
