Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are front runners for the Premier League title this season as their victory over Arsenal in the last round of the competition gave them a 9 point lead over Tottenham Hotspur in the second place. The manager will be happy with the squad at the moment but with European football beckoning, he is expected to make a few additions at the end of the season and the striker’s position is one that seems to be of utmost importance to the manager.

Diego Costa, one of the top goalscorers in the league, might be on his way out of the club this summer and Conte has been looking at possible options to replace him at the end of the season. Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata and Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, are two of the names that are extensively linked with a move to the Bridge in the summer. But who is a better option for Conte?

Spanish international Alvaro Morata is currently unsettled at the Bernabeu due to lack of playing time and has reportedly revealed his interest in signing for the Blues this summer. At 24, the Spaniard is one of the most exciting players in his position and will be a superb addition for Chelsea.

A versatile attacker who can play as a lone striker or also on the wing, Morata has 10 goals and 3assits for Real Madrid in all competitions this season. He is at his best with the ball at his feet as he likes to use his dribbling prowess to good effect in dangerous areas. His finishing is decent while his ability to set teammates up on goal is what will attract Conte the most.

On the other hand, Romelu Lukaku is having yet another season of his life, as he now stands as the top goalscorer in the top flight of English football. He was sold by the Blues to Everton a couple of years ago and ever since, he has developed as one of the best in business. He is currently the backbone of Ronald Koeman’s side at the Goodison Park this season, scoring 16 goals and picking up 4 assists in the Premier League. His finishing is second to none in the league while his dribbling abilities are also commendable. He is a target-man in every sense of the word and is a player who ticks most boxes for Antonio Conte.

Both players are still at the start of their career and are long term options for Antonio Conte. Though Lukaku edges Morata over with his experience in the Premier League, Conte’s time in Italy has taken him closer to the Spaniard from Real and this might have a say in this deal this summer.

Romelu Lukaku, who has already played at the Bridge, will take no time to settled in and will be expected to get instant success while Morata, full of potential, might not be able to set the league on fire straight away. Lukaku will cost significantly more, but surely, the Everton man should be the top transfer target, especially after he revealed that he is ready for a move at the end of the season.
