Predicted Chelsea Lineup To Face Tottenham In The Premier League

The Champions of England, Chelsea have now played two games in the new domestic season, losing both those games and seeing three red cards in the process. The latest loss to Burnley on the opening day of the Premier League is something that Antonio Conte will not forget but it does not get any easier for them this weekend.

They travel to Wembley, as they face Tottenham Hotspur, the runners up in the previous campaign. Spurs managed a victory over Newcastle United in their first game of the season and will hope to make it tough for Chelsea to get even a point from this game. However, Conte will want all three.

Team News

The Blues will be without the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Gary Cahill, with both of them out suspended. Tiemoue Bakayoko remains unavailable through injury along with Eden Hazard and Pedro, who both missed the last game.

Manager: Antonio Conte

Formation: 3-4-3

GK –Thibaut Courtois

The Belgian international had a torrid time in goal against Burnley. He will look to make amends this weekend.

CB – Cesar Azpilicueta

Started as a wing back in the previous game but should be pushed back into a centre back’s role due to the lack of options in the squad.

CB – Antonio Rudiger

The German newbie did not have the greatest time against the Clarets but should start this game at the heart of the back three for Chelsea. He will be up against Harry Kane in what will be his biggest test yet in England.

David Luiz

CB – Andreas Christensen

The youngster put in a good performance coming on early in the previous game and Conte has no choice but to use him at the back against Spurs.

RWB – Victor Moses

Started the game against Burnley on the bench but should earn his place back in the first team with Azpilicueta expected to play as a CB.

CM – N’Golo Kante

The French midfielder will be the most important player for Chelsea in this tie as he does not have a first choice option to partner him in the midfield for this game.

CM – David Luiz

The Brazilian centre-back has already played as a midfielder in his time with PSG and during his first stint with Chelsea as well. He should start as a defensive midfielder due to suspensions and injuries that have hit his side early this season.

LWB – Marcos Alonso

The Spaniard did not have a great time in the previous game and will have to step up to the occasion, facing the likes of Harry Kane & co.

RW – Willian

The Brazilian winger was probably the best player for Chelsea in the embarrassing defeat against Burnley and he should keep his place in the side, facing the likes of Ben Davies on the wing.

LW – Alvaro Morata

Up against a youngster in Kyle Walker-Peters, Alvaro Morata’s debut start in the Premier League has the potential to turn into a match-winning one in the future.

ST – Michy Batshuayi

The Belgian striker failed to have the kind of impact expected of him but the lack of options should see Conte stick with him to lead Chelsea’s attacking line in this game.

This is how Chelsea might line up:
