Sheffield Wednesday

Luhukay to make no changes from last week – Predicted 4-2-3-1 Sheffield Wednesday XI to face Reading

Predicted Sheffield Wednesday line-up to face Reading in the Championship

Sheffield Wednesday would look to continue their winning form in the league when they meet Reading away from home this weekend. The Owls got the better of Ipswich Town last week and made several changes for the midweek game against Wolves in the League Cup, only to lose 2-0.

It is clear that Jos Luhukay is focusing more on the Championship, and getting three points at Reading would round off a good start to this season. They have seven points from the possible 15, pushing that up to 10 in 18 would be ideal before the first international break.

Team News

Luhukay made several changes for the cup tie, however, expect him to stick to the same eleven which started against Ipswich last Saturday. The manager doesn’t have any serious injury concerns to be worried about, which is a positive.

Probable Sheffield Wednesday XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Jos Luhukay

Cameron Dawson (GK)

Dawson has massively improved as a keeper since the start of this season. His distribution is becoming more incisive game by game.

Liam Palmer (RB)

Another player who was shaky at the start, but performed very well last week. He should be a regular at right-back now.

Tom Lees

Tom Lees (CB)

Luhukay would want a settled partnership at the heart of his defence. Captain Lees has been solid lately.

Jordan Thorniley (CB)

Thorniley has raised his performance level in recent games and is forming a good pairing with Lees. Sheffield Wednesday fans would be pleased to see this prosper.

Matt Penney (LB)

The youngster’s positional awareness playing as a left-back has been impressive. Expect him to nail down the spot soon.

Barry Bannan

Barry Bannan (CM)

Bannan is a quality player in central midfield, pulling all strings together. Should start this weekend.

Joey Pelupessy (CM)

Pelupessy is another player who began the season badly, however, he is regaining his good form. Playing alongside Bannan would help him a lot.

Marco Matias (RW)

Played well as a winger last week, but faded when he was asked to play centrally. Luhukay must take note of not playing wingers in wrong positions.

Adam Reach

Adam Reach (CAM)

Reach has blown hot and cold in terms of his performance level. The manager would want more consistency from him in the coming games.

Lucas Joao (LW)

Scored a brace last week, however, he needs to improve his final ball in order to have more impact on the game.

Atdhe Nuhiu (ST)

Nuhiu needs to up his game as Fernando Forestieri and Steven Fletcher are waiting to grab the place.
