Sheffield Wednesday got their first win of the season on Wednesday, at home against Millwall. They would want to continue that winning momentum by getting the better of Ipswich Town at the Hillsborough Stadium.
The Owls played much better versus a defensively-sound team like Millwall, which must have given manager Jos Luhukay some confidence. He would now be hoping to get a similar level of performance from the players on Saturday.
Ipswich have been a bit unlucky to not win a game thus far. As far as the history is concerned, they haven’t lost to Wednesday in their last nine trips. Hence, it won’t be easy for Luhukay’s men to potentially grab back-to-back wins.
Gary Hooper continues to regain his fitness, while Almen Abdi and Kieran Lee remain long-term absentees. Luhukay might freshen things up at full-back and wide attacking areas by bringing Fernando Forestieri and Morgan Fox at right-wing and left-back respectively.
Dawson has been decent and should continue in goal for the Owls.
The versatile full-back should start at right-back as Luhukay returns to the 4-2-3-1 formation.
Thorniley should partner Tom Lees as Luhukay would love to keep an unchanged centre-back pairing to harness solidity and understanding.
He has blown hot and cold at times during games, but Lees has been good, so he might get a prolonged run in the side.
Matt Penney started at left-back against Millwall, but the manager may choose Fox for the game on Saturday.
The ever-present in midfield for the Owls is expected to continue being deployed in central midfield, regardless of the formation change.
After a tough start, Pelupessy has slightly bettered his performance levels. That could be because he is comfortable in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
The Portuguese winger is expected to continue being deployed on the left-hand side and provide the attacking outlet for the Owls.
Reach’s level of performance has been nothing short of a sine-wave plot. He has the potential to bring consistency to his game, which the team would love to have as soon as possible.
Forestieri might get a chance ahead of Fraser Preston for this game. The former hasn’t been at his best so far.
