Should Louis Van Gaal Target this English Striker for Manchester United?

Louis van Gaal
Louis van Gaal

Louis van Gaal’s season seems to be going on a single track, the fans want the club to attack but Louis van Gaal is sticking to his guns and isn’t willing to change them no matter what. There is one problem, though, the team is not scoring and that could well come back to haunt them come the end of the season.

Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Memphis Depay have all failed to find the back of the net regularly this season, despite Van Gaal stating that there isn’t a real problem with the club. United might just have to dip into the transfer market to bolster their attack and they just might have the answer to their problems with a player already plying his trade in the Premier League.

No Spurs, Yes Red Devils!

The Red Devils might sit in 4th position in the league standings but have only found the back of the net 20 times in 15 games this season, not the kind of goal scoring record the team are known for. While Wayne Rooney has struggled to find any sort of form under Van Gaal and now sits out injured for quite a while.

The likes of Martial and Memphis are young and need some time to get used to the Premier League before they can show their ability, glimpses are not enough for the Manchester United fans and they need a signing of intent from the manager.

Saido Berahino might have been in the news for the wrong reasons at the start of the season with a failed transfer to Tottenham but what was more shocking was his refusal to play for the club. Tony Pulis did put him out of the team but was later instated by the manager, but Berahino doesn’t look like the player who was scoring goals in almost every other game.

Berahino had scored 20 goals in 45 games last season, but the 22-year-old has only found the net thrice in 11 games for West Brom. He might not be worth the over £20 million West Brom demanded from Tottenham and could well be up for sale in January as he has only 18 months left in his contract.

West Brom are not playing him as much as they should, but Berahino does have class and could be a great addition to Louis van Gaal’s side. Not only would he get his wish of playing for a bigger club, though he had his heart set on Tottenham, he could well be the main striker at the club. Berahino was known for his runs and that could well be the way for Manchester United and Van Gaal to go forward.

He might not be the best in heading or using his physicality but his speed and finishing aren’t the worst and he does have a great shot in him, especially from a distance. Berahino does need to test himself once again, bridges might have been burnt at West Bromwich Albion but Louis van Gaal could certainly resurrect the career of the former England U21 striker, something which is desperately needed for Berahino but he would have to deal with Van Gaal’s authoritative nature, something that might be the real test for the 22-year-old.
