Looking To Bounce Back – A Strong (4-3-3) Rangers XI To Play St Johnstone

Having suffered defeat at the hands of Inverness last Friday – their 3rd in the last 4 league games, Rangers will attempt to get back to winning ways to save their crumbling season when they host St.Johnstone at the Ibronx Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Gers have found themselves 9 points behind 2nd placed Aberdeen and just 6 points above 5th placed Johnstone after 26 league games, and now have to get their acts together in order to maintain their current position (3rd) till the end having fallen way behind in the title race.

Rangers have met St. Johnstone twice in the Scottish Premiership this term, with the teams playing out a 1-1 draw on both occasions. Hence, another tough encounter can be expected this time around, and the hosts will have to be in solid form to secure a win.

Having failed to win any of the 2 league games he has overseen, Graeme Murty would be keen on naming a side capable of grinding out the needed result on Wednesday night and here is how his starting lineup could look like:

Formation : 4-3-3

GK – Foderingham

The English goalie has kept just one clean sheet this year – which was against Motherwell and would expect his defence to help him out.

LB – Wallace

The left-back returned to action last weekend after a brief injury layoff and would be expected to continue action during the week, making his 24th Premiership appearance of the campaign.

CB – Wilson

The Scottish centre-half has been a more regular face in the lineup of recent after making a return. He has the big task of keeping the Johnstone attack at bay on Wednesday night.

CB – Kiernan

The English defender remains one of the regulars in the lineup and defence due to that steel he offers the Rangers team. That is exactly what would be demanded of him to help keep the visitors out.

RB – Tavernier

The fullback has appeared in every league game of the campaign but one. He remains a constant name and is expected to appear in the lineup until the end of the season.

LM – Holt

Has played every of Rangers game across all competitions this month and is expected to continue on Wednesday night having been one of the few standout players of the campaign.

CM – Halliday

The Scottish midfielder is yet to get off the mark this year but continues to provide excellent services in the middle of the park for the Gers.

RM – Hyndman

The young U.S international has started all 5 of the last league games and has been impressive since then. Hence he is very much likely to be in the starting XI on Wednesday night.

LW – McKay

The Scottish winger is another name set to appear on the starting sheet against Johnstone having appeared in 25 league games thus far this term.

CF – Miller

The veteran striker is still one of the few that can drag Rangers out of their poor form and would be getting the nod to lead the line on Wednesday night.

RW – Waghorn

The Scottish forward struck a goal against Inverness last time out but it wasn’t enough to prevent defeat and he would hope to help his side return to winning ways during the week.
