According to a report from Turkish Football, Liverpool are interested in a late swoop for Besiktas midfielder Dorukhan Tokoz.
The Turkey international, 23, signed for Besiktas from Eskisehirspor last summer and enjoyed a solid debut season, managing three goals and four assists in 23 appearances in all competitions, including three in the Europa League. He was a standout player for Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig and that has led to interest from the Premier League.
The manner in which Dorukhan Tokoz’s stock has gone high could see Besiktas sell him after just one season at Vodafone Park, adds the report. That being said, Liverpool should go all out for the Turkish midfielder.
Liverpool have been relatively quiet during the summer window so far, bringing in teenage duo Sepp van den Berg and Harvey Elliott, along with backup goalkeeper Adrian. The Reds need a couple of reinforcements before the start of the new season, as Jurgen Klopp plots another assault on the Premier League title.
In Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita, James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana and Xherdan Shaqiri, Klopp has a lot of options in midfield. Yet, he could do with more depth in the squad and a player like Dorukhan Tokoz should be a good fit at Anfield.
Tokoz can play anywhere across the midfield and is versatile enough to operate at right-back when required. He is strong the ball and is capable of making some dangerous runs from midfield in the opposition half. The 23-year-old showed glimpses of what he is capable of in the 2018-19 Super Lig campaign, chipping in with crucial assists and goals for Besiktas.

At the same time, the Turkey international can also hurry and hassle the opposing ball-carrier with his combative style of play to win back possession for his team.
Moreover, Tokoz is a good passer of the ball and an even better ball-carrier, meaning the 23-year-old can offer much more to the table when compared to the likes of Fabinho and Henderson.
At 23, the Eskisehir-born prospect is yet to reach the peak years of his playing career which Liverpool could look to benefit from over the next few campaigns. Klopp will now be in a race against time to land Tokoz before the transfer window slams shut later this week.
