Liverpool Player Ratings vs Tottenham Hotspur

Luis Suarez
Luis Suarez

Liverpool’s finest performance of the season saw them hammer a hapless ten man Tottenham Hotspur side by a whopping 5-0 margin here at the White Hart Lane on Sunday. Luis Suarez was again was the wrecker in chief as he amassed two sublime finishes while Jordan Henderson, John Flanagan and Raheem Sterling, all got on the score sheet to pile further misery on a shocked Andre Villas Boas in the sidelines. While this certainly ascertains Liverpool’s top four credentials, Tottenham have got a lot to do if they are to even finish in European Places. Here are Liverpool’s player ratings from the one sided encounter.

Simon Mignolet: The Belgian shot stopper hardly had anything to deal throughout the match as Spurs rarely threatened Liverpool’s goal. The home side carried too little attacking threat and their play, unbelievably was too slow and always predictable.

Rating: 3/5

John Flanagan: Played out of position at left back but still managed to put in a great performance, worked his socks off and came up strong against Lennon in front of him. Scored a fantastic goal as well.

Rating: 3.5/5

Sakho: The Frenchman lived up to his reputation and billing, being the epitome of toughness and no nonsense at the back. A performance worthy of praise and determination of highest calibre.

Rating: 3/5

Martin Skrtel: Much like his centre back partner, put in a great performance and made Soldado look out of the game for the whole of the ninety minutes.

Rating: 3/5

Glen Johnson: Was sublime in both going forward and tracking back. Put in a great shift and deserves praise from even a critic. Was unlucky not to score with his thundering volley in the first half.

Rating: 3/5

Joe Allen: A great performance from someone, of whom I am not a big fan of, but the Welshman did look calm and composed on the ball and has to live up to his billing in the coming matches. Otherwise, a good performance in the middle of the park.

Rating: 2.5/5

Lucas Leiva: The Brazilian replaced the injured Steven Gerrard in the line up and looked calm and composed, breaking up Tottenham’s play and was always assured in his passing and looked positive throughout, before he was replaced late on in the second half.

Rating: 3/5

Jordan Henderson: Slowly but steadily living up to his potential and was absolute world class today. Provided that lovely lay off for Suarez’s opener and scored as well to cap a delightful performance from the Englishman.

Rating: 3.5/5

Raheem Sterling: Was always willing to run the extra mile and his passing today was impeccable to say the least. You don’t have days like this if you aren’t a good player and Sterling worthy of reputation lived up to do his job, what he was asked to. Also scored Liverpool’s fifth as he beat Lloris with a well taken finish.

Rating: 3.5/5

Philippe Coutinho: Another delightful performance from the Brazilian and his link up with Suarez was sensational throughout the match.

Rating: 3.5/5

Luis Suarez: The name is enough!

Rating: 4.5/5
