Liverpool Transfers: Has Brendan Rodgers Done The Right Business? (Part II)

If you had missed out on the first part, check it out here

Alberto Moreno:

The £12 million man is the perfect acquisition for Liverpool from La Liga outfit Sevilla given the defensive deficiencies faced by the Merseyside team last season. With Brendan Rodgers losing faith in Jose Enrique, the only established left back at Liverpool, Glen Johnson was often forced to play there which resulted in various disasters of comic proportions. Moreno has speed and the technique needed to make it in the Premier League and he will just need to work on his consistency to make it a success in the most exciting league in the world.

Dejan Lovren:

The defender from Southampton is in many the most important piece of business done by Liverpool this season. An extremely confident defender who has no noticeable weaknesses, increases Liverpool’s defensive strength a lot. While £20 million might seem a bit on the higher side, he is one player who might be worth every penny of that money very soon. Having already nailed down a place in the starting lineup, many people are realizing the reason why Brendan Rodgers was so desperate to sign him. While the jury is still out on him, there is every chance that he can be a fan favourite at the Anfield by the end of the season.

Divock Origi:

Origi was an unknown name in world football even a few months back, all that changed in the 2014 World Cup. Played ahead of Romelu Lukaku in the Belgian team, he has caught everyone’s attention with some splendid performances. Most noticeable factor is his speed which can come in very handy in the Premier league when he finally plays for Liverpool. While he is still very much the unfinished product, there is no doubting that he might very well be a star for the future.

Mario Balotelli:

The maverick Italian has probably been the biggest star that Liverpool has been able to bring to their team. While the unpredictability and volatility of the Italian means that this deal has an element of risk in it, the £16 million transfer fee means that this is a gamble worth taking. Mario Balotelli is also probably aware that this is his last chance in a big club and might be desperate to prove all the naysayers wring which will definitely benefit Liverpool given how talented the Italian is. A transfer which will either be wildly successful or a spectacular failure.

Rickie Lambert:

The childhood Liverpool fan finally fulfilled his lifelong wish of playing for Liverpool. Having earned the right to play int he Premier League after playing his way through the lower leagues this is a story which touches the heart of every football fan. Bought mainly as a cover, he might not get much playing time but Brendan Rodgers would be hoping that he does the job of an impact substitute well. At only £4 million, this was indeed a business very well done by Liverpool.
