Liverpool are contemplating a move for Southampton striker Shane Long if reports from the Sun are to be believed. The arrival of Charlie Austin from Queens Park Rangers means that Long will have very limited playing time and Liverpool are keen to capitalise on the speculation regarding his future. However, the price believed to be around £8 million would turn out to be a major hurdle as Long, while industrious, does not look a value for money buy at the rumoured price.
In other news, Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Athletic Bilbao’s Inaki Williams with Wenger too keen to sign the attacking midfielder, while Besiktas’ left-back Koybasi could be a subject to a bid from Liverpool with only 6 months remaining on his contract. Moreno is in fine form, however, he does not have any competition for the spot and the arrival of Koybasi could push the Spaniard to his limits while ensuring depth in the squad.
