Liverpool And Tottenham Stars Dominate: Strongest England Lineup To Face Germany

Predicted England Line-up To Face Germany In International Friendly

It is the month of March and that means it is time for the international break. The Premier League will move into the background as the national teams yet again face each other in some interesting competitions this month. The England national team play Lithuania at the Wembley next week but Gareth Southgate’s side have a thrilling encounter against World Cup winners Germany as both teams face off at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund in an international friendly. The Three Lions have all but qualified for the grand competition in 2018 but will hope to put in a good performance to try and take maximum points from their qualifier later in this break. Southgate is expected to play his strongest side for the first half and is expected to go with a similar lineup for the qualifier. Here is the predicted lineup for England to face Germany on Wednesday.

England squad:

Fraser Forster, Joe Hart, Tom Heaton, Ryan Bertrand, Gary Cahill, Nathaniel Clyne, Michael Keane, Luke Shaw, Chris Smalling, John Stones, Kyle Walker, Dele Alli, Ross Barkley, Eric Dier, Adam Lallana, Jesse Lingard, Jake Livermore, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Nathan Redmond, Raheem Sterling, James Ward-Prowse, Jermain Defoe, Marcus Rashford, Jamie Vardy

Team News:

West Ham winger Michail Antonio pulled out of the squad with an injury and will miss this game while Jamie Vardy, Marcus Rashford and Jermaine Defoe remain the only strikers in the squad. Manchester United defender Phil Jones will also play no role in this friendly.

Formation: 4-3-3

GK – Joe Hart

The Manchester City man has been in decent form in Torino and Southgate should stick with him for this game.

RB – Kyle Walker

The Tottenham Hotspur man is arguably the best player in his position this season and he should start this game ahead of Liverpool’s Nathaniel Clyne.

CB – John Stones

The former Everton man has not been at his best at the Etihad this season but would be the first choice in the national team.

CB – Gary Cahill

Helping Chelsea to some impressive defensive numbers this season, Cahill is one of the most in-form defenders in the league and should start this game over Chris Smalling.

LB – Ryan Bertrand

With first choice left-back Danny Rose absent, Bertrand should deputize for him ahead of the struggling Luke Shaw.

CM – Eric Dier

With Jordan Henderson absent, Dier should take the responsibilities of the deep-lying midfielder as Jake Livermore is the only other option for Southgate in the midfield.

CM – Adam Lallana

Playing to the right of the Spurs man would be the England player of the year for 2016, Adam Lallana. He missed a sitter at the Etihad this past weekend and will hope to put it behind him with a good performance in this game.

CM – Dele Alli

Though comfortable in a slightly attacking role, lack of quality in the England midfield should see Dele Alli play a deeper role as a part of the midfield three alongside Lallana and Dier.

RW – Raheem Sterling

The Manchester City man has been in good form this season and he should start on the right flank in this game against Germany.

LW – Marcus Rashford

Manchester United’s young sensation Marcus Rashford should find a place on the wing in this team ahead of the likes of Lingard, Redmond and Barkley.

ST – Jamie Vardy

With Jermaine Defoe as the only other option, Southgate will start the Leicester City star who has found some hot form recently.

This is how they would line up:
