Liverpool signing this world-class 27-year-old would surely help them end their 29-year title drought

Liverpool opinion: Should the Reds make a move for James Rodriguez?

Liverpool’s biggest issue this season has been their lack of creativity, with the Reds often struggling to break down teams. Given that the Reds will more often than not score against the opposition, most Premier League sides sit deep and defend.

That has seen Liverpool struggling against them, with draws against Everton, West Ham and even Manchester United. They were linked with a move for Nabil Fekir last summer but that move eventually broke down with both sides walking away.

Later on, reports emerged that the Reds were very interested in the move but had concerns about his previous injuries.

Fekir had an ACL tear a few years ago, which keeps flaring up every now and then. That has seen him miss parts of the season, which is why Express has indicated that Liverpool decided to take a second look at the deal.

In the end, nothing happened and the Reds ended up losing the season by just one point.

That was the difference between ending their 29-year title drought and making it enter its third decade. Now, Jurgen Klopp is looking to sort that out by signing James Rodriguez, with the Liverpool Echo reporting that the club are keen on a move.

The 27-year-old has struggled this season but still remains a great player. An attacking midfielder by trade, Rodriguez is a lot like Nabil Fekir in many ways, although he isn’t as prolific as the Frenchman.

Instead, he makes up for it by floating across the field and taking teams apart with his vision and eye for a pass. Furthermore, he’s also a dead-ball specialist and does his fair share of the work defensively for both Bayern Munich and even Real Madrid.

While James Rodriguez is on loan at Bayern, it’s already clear that he is not staying there further. His stay ends at the end of the season and it leaves him with just two years left on his current deal with Real Madrid.

However, the Los Blancos are set to offload him as they do not want the 27-year-old at the club.

Conclusion

Liverpool need that creative presence in their side and James Rodriguez will add that in the near future if they make the move.

They need that to change their squad and maybe even the course of the season if the Reds are to end their trophy drought.
