Liverpool should immediately offer this £36m superstar a new contract – agree?

Liverpool must definitely offer Sadio Mane a new long-term contract

According to the Express, Liverpool have opened talks over a new long-term contract for Senegalese winger Sadio Mane. The Liverpool ace, who joined the club for £36m, has been a top-class attacker for the Reds since making the move from Southampton two years ago.

There was speculation that Real Madrid were interested in making a move for the 26-year-old but a move ultimately failed to materialize and Mane stayed put at Anfield. He has been a key member of Jurgen Klopp’s squad and that is why the Merseyside club should definitely hand him a new long-term contract.

Liverpool maintained their unbeaten start to the league after drawing 1-1 against Arsenal and Mane was unlucky not to see his goal stand due to a misjudged offside call. The Senegal international has otherwise been in prime form and has started the season very well.

He has scored 6 goals in 10 appearances in the Premier League. Mane has also scored 1 goal in the Champions League as well. He has played a huge part in the Reds’ famed attack rising to prominence over the last two years. (Stats courtesy – Whoscored)

Brazilian Roberto Firmino has made a lacklustre start to his campaign but the form of Mane has certainly proved fruitful for Liverpool. His pace and trickery on the ball is impeccable. Give Mane a yard and it would be close to impossible for defenders to catch the former Southampton attacker.

He has also been a consistent producer in front of goal since arriving at Merseyside. Mane scored 10 and 13 goals in his last two seasons at Anfield respectively. After racking up 6 in the first 11 games, there’s every chance the 26-year-old can go on a beat his best personal tally. (Stats courtesy – Premier League)

Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah

It would be a mammoth challenge for Klopp and co. to replace the Senegalese international. He is one of the main components of their attack and should the Reds lose either of their trio, it’s going to be very difficult for the other two to cope as was the case over the years. Though Mane tends to disappear for a game or two, there’s no denying he’s always a thorn in any side. He wins fouls, takes on players and has a mean right foot.

Liverpool should definitely hand their Senegal star a new contract as it is an absolute no-brainer at the moment. Mane is just 26 and has plenty of years ahead of him. The best from him is probably yet to come. The Liverpool winger has definitely gotten better with time and the club must now repay his efforts.
