Daniel Sturridge Starts – Strongest 4-3-3 Liverpool Lineup To Face Southampton

Predicted Liverpool Lineup To Face Southampton

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have now taken 9 points from their last 4 games; all against sides placed outside the top-6 in the table. Their victory at the Vicarage Road last weekend pushed them closer to a place in the Champions League and they have a chance to consolidate their place this weekend when they welcome Southampton to Anfield.

Southampton knocked Liverpool out of the EFL Cup earlier this season and drew the fixture at the St. Marys in November, making this a tough fixture for Liverpool. Playing at Anfield, they will be confident going into this game but dropping even one point can seriously dent their chances of European qualification.

Team News

Danny Ings and Sadio Mane are ruled out of the rest of the season alongside Jordan Henderson who might not play a role anymore this season. Adam Lallana and Daniel Sturridge played their part in the previous game and should be a part of the squad for this game while Philippe Coutinho, who was subbed off at the Vicarage Road early in the game, should be fit in time to take on Southampton.

Probable Liverpool Playing XI:

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Jurgen Klopp

GK – Simon Mignolet

The Belgian was superb against Watford and will hope to have a similar game against the Saints this weekend.

RB – Nathaniel Clyne

The first choice right back for Klopp, Clyne has been consistent and will hope to put in a decent performance against his former club.

CB – Joel Matip

The towering defender had his role to play in the clean sheet at the Vicarage Road and Liverpool will need him to be at his best for this game as well.

CB – Dejan Lovren

Another Southampton man at the back for Liverpool, Lovren was solid against Watford and will hope to put in a strong performance against his former side.

LB – James Milner

The versatile midfielder has been really solid at the left-back position for Liverpool this season and should hold his place for this tie.

CDM – Lucas Leiva

Though Adam Lallana is back on the bench, Lucas has been emphatic in front of the back-4 and Klopp should try to get another game out of the Brazilian midfielder.

CM – Georginio Wijnaldum

The Dutch international has been effective in this midfield role and he will hope to have an impact on this game against Southampton.

CM – Emre Can

The hero of the previous game for Liverpool, Can has been excellent in the last few weeks and will have an important role to play in this game against the Saints.

RW – Daniel Sturridge

With Origi slowly drifting away, Sturridge, who showed promise, late in the game against Watford, should start the game for the Reds.

LW – Philippe Coutinho

Only had a dead leg for which he was subbed off in the previous game but is back in training already and should start this tie at Anfield.

CF – Roberto Firmino

The Brazilian had a tough time at the Vicarage road but playing at home, he should be fully confident and will hope to help Liverpool to a victory.
