Liverpool Player Ratings vs QPR: Philippe Coutinho, The Star Of The Show

Just like the last time these two clubs met, this time around the game was frantic, especially in the last few minutes. Liverpool took the lead thanks to a brilliant effort by Coutinho but were pegged back when Leroy Fer equalized for QPR. Liverpool had a chance to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty, but Steven Gerrard missed the chance but redeemed himself by nodding in a header late in the game. Liverpool might not make it into the Champions League, but a good end to the season could be a catapult for next season, we rate the Liverpool players’ performance after the win against QPR.

Simon Mignolet: 7/10

A decent display from the Liverpool goalkeeper, he didn’t have to do much during the game though.

Glen Johnson: 6.5/10

Probably playing his 2^nd last game in front of the Kop, Johnson didn’t do much wrong during the game and will be hoping to finish his Liverpool career with a few more wins under his belt.

Martin Skrtel: 6.5/10

Skrtel didn’t have to do anything flashy in the game and kept the normally vibrant Charlie Austin quiet during the game.

Dejan Lovren: 7/10

Another good outing by the Croatian who has been the target of criticism from some quarters of Liverpool, this performance will help him rebuild his credibility.

Emre Can: 7/10

Can played as a right back in this game and was good enough, he did take part in a lot of the Liverpool attacks.

Jordan Henderson: 6.5/10

Didn’t really do anything wrong in the game and was decent in midfield for Liverpool, he does need to step up to have a bigger say in games.

Steven Gerrard: 8/10

An eventful match for the captain as he missed a penalty but scored a header to give Liverpool the three points, quite a way to go out on a little high in front of the Liverpool faithful.

Philippe Coutinho: 9/10

The star of the show, Coutinho pulled the strings in attack and he scored a sumptuous goal and even had a hand in the second goal as Gerrard scored from a Coutinho’s cross.

Adam Lallana: 6.5/10

Lallana returned to the starting line-up after almost a month out and worked his way around, he did impress but still needs to do more for the team.

Raheem Sterling: 6/10

Another rather average showing by Raheem, all talk of him wanting a bumper contract has been put on hold and so have his performances. His glaring miss in the second half could have cost Liverpool dearly.

Rickie Lambert: 6.5/10

Was tireless in his role as the lone striker, Lambert did not have the pace but he did have the physicality to trouble the QPR defenders. He was responsible for the assist that led to the Coutinho goal and had a decent day at the office.

Substitutes:

Jordon Ibe: 6/10

Was brought on for the industrious Adam Lallana and looked good, Ibe did create a couple of good chances down the left of the side. His development has come leaps and bounds this season and should play a bigger part for Liverpool next year.

Lucas Leiva: NA

Was brought on in the last minute and didn’t really have much of a say in the game.

Lazar Markovic: NA

Another late substitute, Markovic couldn’t really stamp his authority in the game.
