Liverpool Player Ratings + Highlights Against Tottenham: Reds Dream About Title

Luis Suarez

Yet another terrific performance from Liverpool gave Brendan Rodgers’ side a convincing 4-0 emphatic win over Tottenham Hotspur in front of a vociferous Anfield faithful. Liverpool, courtesy of the victory reached the top of the table taking advantage of Chelsea’s shock loss to Crystal Palace and the draw played out between Arsenal and Manchester City on Saturday night.

A Younes Kaboul own goal gave the Reds an early lead before Luis Suarez doubled the advantage capitalizing in Michael Dawson’s mistake at the back. Second half goals from Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson made the victory more emphatic as the reds turned in another ruthless display. Here are the player ratings from Anfield.

Simon Mignolet: The Belgian kept a morale boosting clean sheet and his distribution was wonderful throughout the entire match. Made two crucial saves in the first half from Eriksen as he was ably supported by the back four.

Rating: 2.5/5

Jon Flanagan: Helped his team with a shutout. The young Englishman had a great game flying into tackles and rarely offering Aaron Lennon any space to work with on the right wing. Grabbed an assist for the Coutinho goal.

Rating: 3/5

Daniel Agger: The Dane had a flawless afternoon in my opinion, always willing to put his body on the line and not letting Soldado any space in the final third. Was very comfortable on the ball too.

Rating: 3/5

Martin Skrtel: Commanding presence in the heart of defence and what a season he is having. The Slovakian was always first to ball and his sublime front foot defending was simply imperious throughout the match.

Rating: 3/5

Glen Johnson: Made a lovely run in the build up to Liverpool’s opener, going past Eriksen as if the latter wasn’t there. Johnson was a constant menace with his nimble footwork and tireless running on the flanks.

Rating: 3/5

Jordan Henderson: Finally got a goal for himself with a free kick that went past everyone into the far corner. Worked his socks off and looks to grow with each passing game.

Rating: 3.5/5

Steven Gerrard: Yet again a Gerrard-esque performance from the English International. A class performance from with exceptional passing and playing almost as a quarter back has reinvented him for his club and his country going into the World Cup.

Rating: 3/5

Philippe Coutinho: The Brazilian had a wonderful game playing at the top of the diamond. Incisive passing, brilliant runs off the ball combined in what was a stupendous outing on the pitch. Grabbed a goal too with a thunderous strike from outside the box.

Rating: 4/5

Raheem Sterling: My man of the match who is sure to grab the headlines with a wonderful performance. Never game the Tottenham defenders a moment’s rest and was equally effective at stretching the play and his direct running caused Spurs a headache right throughout the match.

Rating: 4/5

Daniel Sturridge: One of those rare games in which he didn’t find the back of the net. Missed a glorious opportunity with an early timed jump in the first half but his telepathic understanding with Suarez was clear on display.

Rating: 2.5/5

Luis Suarez: Capitalized on Michael Dawson’s error to give Liverpool the lead by the 30 minute mark. As a result he surpassed Robbie Fowler with most goals for Liverpool in a season with 29 strikes at the back of the net.

Rating: 4/5
