Match Preview

The fact that is going to make Brendan Rodgers happy is that Liverpool have remained unbeaten in the last 6 games of the Premier League. But what should be worrying Rodgers is the fact that they have only won 2 of the 6 games. So, against Wigan they will be primarily looking to net all 3 points and move in a respectable position in the league. After an impressive show against Chelsea last week, they will believe that the task is not unmountable for them. Liverpool will also be in high spirits because a number of their players have made good progress and will be available for selection. Daniel Agger, who missed the midweek match for his country, Pepe Reina, Martin Skrtel and Jonjo Shelvey are expected to feature in Saturday’s match.

Will he be the savior for Liverpool again?

Although Lucas, Borini and Kelly are yet to gain match fitness and Liverpool will have to manage without the services of them. The one player on whom all eyes will be is Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan International is finally finding form and playing brilliantly up front which have made him the joint highest goal scorer of the league at 8 goals, with Van Persie thus far. His partnership with Sterling would be vital for the success of Liverpool in this match and later in the season.

It would be certainly be a matter of honor for Wigan manager Roberto Martinez who was almost trusted with the Mersyside job. Their recent impressive performance was marred by their loss to West Brom last week and they definitely like to bounce back. They would like to believe that they have a god chance against Liverpool since they are in the 14th spot and the their hosts only a spot above them. It would be very vital for the visitors that James McArthur recover from his injury and play in this match. Shaun Maloney is likely to return to action after being absent from the midweek Scotland game and play in this match. But the one player who can turn the match for Wigan is Franco Di Santo. He has just added a feather to his cap by gaining his first cap for Argentina alongside Messi, Aguero and Higuain and would be looking to do well for his club. So, overall it promises to be a good game and provide a lot of goalmouth action.

Our Prediction- Liverpool 1-0 Wigan Athletic
