Liverpool Latest Inclduing: A £22m Bid For Spurs Target And Crunch Talks With Suarez

Share

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is in talks with the club officials to propose a bid for Valencia striker Roberto Soldado, a prime target of fellow Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur who are in dire need of a new striker. According to Dailystar, Liverpool are alleged to hijack Spurs move for Soldado with a £22m bid.

The dilemma of Luis Suarez’s future at Anfield has taken a lot of spaces in the papers for some time now and these fresh rumours are only making matters worse for the Anfield faithful who are waiting to see the other side of this silly season.

Soldado had a sensational streak last year, scoring 24 goals in his 35 league appearances for Valencia. But in spite of a £30 million release clause in his contract, Valencia will consider selling him in a lower bid as the club failed to qualify for the Champions League this season. Tottenham who had an initial bid of £17 million rejected by the La Liga club, went back with an improved offer of £20 million which was again rejected. So will Liverpool be able to lure Valencia into selling their prized asset? Can Spurs come back with another offer? We will have to wait and see.

On a completely different note, Brendan Rodgers plans to have crunch talks with Suarez.

After all the speculations on his future, Liverpool’s Uruguyan hit-man finally landed in Australia for the club’s pre-season game scheduled to be played on Wednesday. It is the first time that Suarez meets Rodgers and his teammates since suggesting that he may leave the Reds while on International duty with Uruguay. A summer full of speculations surrounding the forward will move one step further as Rodgers plans to have crunch talks with Suarez. Talking to the press on Monday morning, Rodgers said:

“There’s been a lot of speculation over the course of the close season but the reality is that he’s a player who is very much valued at Liverpool,” he said.

“And unless there’s any sort of offer that comes in that’s anywhere near his value, there’s nothing to consider. We haven’t had that.”

Asked what that value was, Rodgers replied: “I didn’t say we would sell him. I said that every player has a value and a worth. Doesn’t mean you’ve got to sell them.”

Rodgers was asked whether he expected Suarez to still be with them for the start of the new season, and replied: “Yes, very much so.”

“As we’ve always been as a club, I’m quite relaxed about it. He’s an integral part of our squad,” Rodgers told reporters at a press conference on their arrival in Melbourne.

Looks like both the news reported above seem to contradict each other! Will Suarez stay, or will Rodgers have to battle it out with Spurs for Soldado?
