German international Mario Gotze has been linked with a move to Liverpool for some time now, however, recent events hit a hard blow to the Reds’ plan to sign the midfielder as reports suggest that Borussia Dortmund may look back at the player with a potential transfer move back to Westfalenstadion in mind.
While the player had not had a good season at Bayern, a union with his former manager Jurgen Klopp will allow him to work back up in his career.
“If he were to come onto the market, however, and if we were to receive a signal that he would be interested in coming back to us, then we would discuss it – of course we would.”-Hans-Joachim Watzke
The player joined Bayern in 2013 at £32.5m, and now he is valued at around £27m. Borussia Dortmund’s chief executive stated that the ‘door is always open’ for Gotze if he wants to come back to the club. Hans-Joachin Watzke stated that if the player wants to come back to the club and if they receive any intimation regarding the same then they will bring the player back.
