Why Liverpool should beat others to the signature of Kai Havertz

According to a report in the Sun, Liverpool are among a host of top Premier League clubs interested in signing £91m-rated Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea (provided they get themselves free of transfer ban) are in the race with the European champions to sign the 20-year-old sensation. Real Madrid and Barcelona would also pounce on an opportunity if it is presented. (h/t Sun)

Havertz has been attracting the attention of several big clubs since the start of last season (h/t Sun). He managed to score 20 goals in all competitions for Leverkusen during that period, which further enhanced the interest from potential suitors.

As per the report (h/t Sun), it is felt that the youngster could be on his way to one of the big clubs next summer and further glorify his career in front of the world.

Here’s why Liverpool should make sure that his next destination is the Merseyside:

Havertz could be what Liverpool wanted when they pursued Fekir

Kai Havertz is a high-quality young player who is a prodigious user of the ball in the final third. While he prefers to play as a number 10 behind the frontline, the 20-year-old is capable of operating on the right wing and also as one of the advanced central midfielders in a 4-3-3 formation.

Since the German season started just last week, let’s consider his numbers from the previous season for discussion. The Germany international scored 20 goals and supplied 7 assists in 42 appearances in all competitions.

In terms of being creative on the field, Havertz produced key passes at a rate of one per game, spanning over 34 league appearances. His dribble rate was 1.4 and he attempted an average of 2.4 shots per game. (Whoscored)

The 20-year-old is a player who could be make a massive impact at Liverpool, chiefly because of the way they play. His quality on the ball in the midfield can quantify the runs made by their front three.

Conclusion

Thus, if Jurgen Klopp’s men manage to sign Kai Havertz, he could be the type of player they wanted when they went in for Nabil Fekir last summer.
