Manchester United and Liverpool have the longest history of rivalry in the Premier League. Now that neither are at the top of their game, it is only natural that one will try to oust the other to the summit.
The tradition of competition seems to be carrying on off the pitch as well. Namely, in the transfer market, the two clubs are reported to be competing for the signature of Ruben Neves. The 19 year old defensive midfielder is set to leave the Dragons this summer and The Sun reported that he prefers a move to Premier League. Neves has played for Porto 38 times last season and has scored 2 goals. He also has been the youngest captain in the history of the club and obviously has caught the eyes of the Premier League giants.
Represented by Jorge Mendes, the chances of him coming to Manchester United would have been more but there are reports that say that United are chasing Paul Pogba with all their focus. Thus the likelihood of Neves joining Liverpool is way more. The defensive midfielder is said to be valued at around £13million.
