Leicester must embrace progress and offload this £22m flop in order to sign Youri Tielemans permanently

Leicester City opinion – Adrien Silva likely to leave the club – Good Move?

According to a report in Leicester Mercury (h/t France Football), Leicester City midfielder Adrien Silva, who is currently on loan at Monaco, is impressing everyone in France.

It is also understood that the Portuguese international has received unanimous support at Stade Louis, and they would love to keep him on a permanent basis once his loan deal expires. (h/t Leicester Mercury)

Silva joined the Foxes for £22m in January of 2018 but didn’t play much. Given his top-class performances in France, it is highly unlikely that they would be willing to sell the midfielder on a cut-price deal. (h/t Leicester Mercury)

Here’s why Leicester would be better of selling the Portugal international in the summer window:

Selling Silva could mean signing Tielemans

When Leicester let go of Adrien Silva in the January window, they brought Youri Tielemans on loan from Monaco. To be fair to the Belgian international, he has had a tremendous time at the King Power Stadium so far, with returns of two goals and three assists in nine appearances.

Furthermore, Silva didn’t play much since arriving in England and couldn’t impact the games he took part in. He is more of a midfielder, who is defensive-minded and different to Tielemans.

If we look at the Leicester team, Rodgers has good defensive midfielders in the team, who are doing a decent job. Blending an attacking-minded midfielder in Tielemans would be ideal, rather than having another defensive-minded player in the team.

Hence, if the Foxes have an option, the right choice would be to sell the latter on a permanent basis and sign the former on the same lines.

Conclusion

Leicester under Rodgers are striving to be an attacking-minded team, who play on the front foot. With Tielemans doing well under the new gaffer, everything is in place for Tielemens to flourish, which should see Silva leave the club.
