Leicester City opinion: Should the Foxes consider a move for Denis Bouanga?
According to reports from English news outlet the Liverpool Echo, Leicester City are very keen on a move for Denis Bouanga. The Foxes are looking for their next bargain buy and believe that the Gabonese star is their man.
Currently contracted to Nimes Olympique, the 24-year-old has done well for himself since making the move over from FC Lorient.
Denis Bouanga finished the season with 8 goals and 3 assists to his name, which does mean that only Jamie Vardy scored more goals. Demarai Gray, Rachid Ghezzal, and even Kelechi Iheanacho suffered from very form, managed to net just 9 goals between themselves.
That alone showcases just why Leicester City need reinforcements and they need them fast. The club has started to change and while it’s good to see the Foxes changing their transfer strategy after a series of rather bad moves, they need to keep to their core.
The core that helped them reach the Premier League in the first place, a core that saw the rise of players like Riyad Mahrez, N’Golo Kante, Danny Drinkwater and even Jamie Vardy. Sure, they had more than a few flops even then, but it was the budget moves that helped the club get to where they are right now.
Now, with them losing Riyad Mahrez last summer and failing to adequately replace him, Leicester City needs to add someone like Denis Bouanga. A speedy winger, Bouanga is clearly talented and has improved his ability in front of goal over the years.
It was on show at the AFCON 2017, with the then 22-year-old flourishing for his home nation of Gabon. Not only that, Denis Bouanga played even better than Gabonese and European superstar Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, gaining plaudits for his performances.
His movement was intelligent and his eye for goal was great and it has become even sharper. He finished his last season for FC Lorient with 13 goals and 4 assists in all competition, before leaving for Nimes last summer.
It’s here that Denis Bouanga found his scoring touch, producing 10 goals in just 38 appearances in his debut season.
However, what has improved most is his movement and creativity, with the 24-year-old creating more chances than he ever has. That bodes well for Leicester City and it’s a move that will do the club a lot of good to try and re-establish themselves in the Premier League.

Leicester City need a few new additions and they do not have to be world-class superstars, at least not right now. The Foxes have a young squad and they just need to tinker with that to find the right combination, and adding someone like Denis Bouanga will help them achieve that goal.
