Leicester can bag gold by signing this 25-year-old Bundesliga hotshot in January – Puel shouldn’t think twice

Why Leicester City should go all out to sign Thorgan Hazard in January

According to Foot Mercato, Everton, Leicester City, Inter Milan and Valencia are some of the European clubs vying for the signature of Thorgan Hazard.

The Belgium international has earned a name for himself in the Bundesliga after failing to make the grade at Chelsea where he joined at the same time as older brother Eden Hazard.

Thorgan Hazard, 25, has been exceptional for Borussia Monchengladbach this season, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in nine appearances across all competitions. With the Belgian playmaker attracting a lot of interest, Leicester City should bag his signature in January.

Leicester City have had a mixed start to the new Premier League season. The summer recruits have yet to make an impression for the Foxes barring James Maddison, who has been utterly brilliant with his creativity and vision.

Maddison has slotted seemingly into the Leicester XI under manager Claude Puel like a duck to water.

Maddison, a summer recruit from Norwich City, has starred in his first two months as a Premier League player and is surely in the reckoning for an England start after being Leicester’s brightest spark in the final third.

However, the former Norwich man is very young and Puel simply cannot expect him to deliver the goods week in and week out. True, he is a talent and is developing at a rapid rate but bad patches will certainly arrive in his career.

Keeping that in mind, adding another creative midfielder would do no harm to the Foxes and Puel should go all out to sign Thorgan Hazard in January. Hazard has cemented his place as one of the key players in the Monchengladbach team and would certainly suit Puel’s style of play at Leicester.

Hazard has been devastating in the Bundesliga and would bring a lot of creativity, flair and dynamism to Leicester’s play in the final third. The Belgian is quick, intelligent, athletic and has an eye for goal.

While he can use his trickery and instant acceleration to bamboozle the defenders, he is equally adept at holding onto the ball, and uses his awareness and vision to good effect from tight areas.

To put things into perspective, Hazard is the sort of player who looks to give his 100% on the pitch and puts in a lot of effort to make things happen in the final third. Leicester have lacked effective build-up play in the final third this season and the Belgium international could be the right player to allow Puel’s side play some free-flowing football.

Hazard did fail to make the grade at Chelsea but after becoming one of the best No.10’s in the Bundesliga in recent years, he certainly deserves another bite at the Premier League cherry.
