Leicester beating Arsenal to the signing of this gifted La Liga starlet would be quite a statement

Leicester City opinion: The Foxes should go all out to sign Ferran Torres

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Leicester City and Arsenal are locked in a battle to sign exciting Valencia teenager Ferran Torres.

Ferran Torres, 19, is one of the most promising prospects in La Liga and shone as Valencia finished fourth in the table after a miserable start to the 2018/19 campaign, whilst reaching the Europa League semi-finals.

The teenage prodigy, one of Valencia’s outstanding performers this campaign, is also watched by the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid.

Valencia will definitely look to keep hold of the young winger but could be tempted to sell if any club comes up with an offer of around £25m, adds the report. With that in mind, Leicester City must beat Arsenal to Ferran Torres’ signature.

Brendan Rodgers showed plenty of signs of taking Leicester in the right direction, bringing back the fluid, rip-roaring counter-attacking style of play that had diminished under Claude Puel.

Under Rodgers, the likes of Jamie Vardy, James Maddison, Harvey Barnes, Harry Maguire and Ben Chilwell stepped up in the second half of last campaign to guide the club to a top-half finish.

However, the Foxes boss will aim to challenge the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ next term and in order to make that happen, he will need more quality and depth to his squad.

Suffice to say, Leicester have an exciting pool of young talents in their ranks and each of the aforementioned players could unlock their true potential under Rodgers’ tutelage.

Keeping that in mind, Ferran Torres, who is also a sublime talent, would be yet another fantastic addition to Leicester’s rich reserve of promising youngsters. The 19-year-old has already grabbed a lot of eyeballs after impressing in his debut campaign at Valencia in the La Liga.

Predominantly a right-winger who can also play on the left, the Spaniard is noted for his pace, dribbling skills and acceleration.

His fearless approach and directness to run at defenders coupled with his good eye for key passes and through balls in the final third make him a potent threat up front.

Torres will add the element of unpredictability to the Leicester attack, potentially forming an exciting understanding with the likes of Maddison and Barnes.

Truly, the 19-year-old fits the mould of the Leicester team and his addition can give Rodgers’ side a different dynamic in the final third of the pitch.

Verdict

Torres is by no means the finished article but he looks like a real talent and Leicester City should definitely make a genuine attempt to sign him this summer.
