Leeds United reuniting with this 22-year-old English starlet would be a massive boost ahead of the new season

Leeds United opinion: Should the Whites sign Jack Harrison?

According to Leeds Live, Manchester City winger Jack Harrison is set to make a return to Leeds United on another loan deal. The 22-year-old endured a decent loan spell last season, becoming a regular under Marcelo Bielsa. The English prospect is yet to make a first-team appearance with the Cityzens.

Harrison played for more than 40 matches and racked up an eight-goal tally. Prior to Elland Road loan move, he spent a notable loan spell with New York City, featuring in more than 50 games, bagging 17 goals.

Harrison has spent his youth career with some elite cubs; namely Liverpool and Manchester United. Earlier, the Cityzens were reluctant to give upon Harrison as they wanted him at Etihad next season, which saw Leeds come up with £20m for his permanent capture.

Now, it has been revealed that the English winger wouldn’t be under any of Pep Guardiola’s plans next season since the current Sky Blues’ attacking line-up looks unbreachable.

Why Leeds should reunite with Harrison

The White’s ineptitude in the attacking line-up has been one of the major let-downs in their promotion slump last season, especially in the final phase of  Championship.

At the same time, Jack Clarke, another Leeds prospect, is linked with a move away from Elland Road, with Tottenham showing interest in him. The 19-year-old broke into the Whites’ first- team last season and made his presence felt straightway with some major contributions.

Given that the club is running out of wide men, the Whites should reunite with Harrison. Having the ability to play on both the flanks like Clarke, Harrison has been deployed as a natural winger on the right-wing.

Owing to the prevalent 4-1-4-1 formation throughout the season by Bielsa, Harrison adopted to a slightly deeper role, becoming a wide midfielder and sometimes as an attacking-minded one. He holds a pass success percentage of over 70% and he is adept at making sharp crosses.

Verdict

Given that the manager, Bielsa, is so determined to secure promotion next season, the Whites should make good use of the transfer window. Harrison looks a good option and has embraced the clubs’ playing style as well.
