Leeds United News: Leeds United plotting a move for Uruguayan World Cup star

Player stats

Nandez who currently plays for Boca Juniors raised through the youth ranks of Penarol, his country club.

He then joined Argentine Premiere Division in 2017 and has made 19 appearances till now.

Nandez caught everyone’s eyes with his display during FIFA World Cup 2018. The midfielder had made fives appearances out of six games before getting eliminated in the quarter-finals.

Nandez can play either as a central midfielder or a box-to-box midfielder and his ideal strengths are his tackles, ball recovery, and possession.

The Uruguayan has scored two goals and provided an assist so far in this season.

Why should  Leeds Pursue?

The world cup star will certainly help Marcelo Bielsa to rebuild his midfield strength. Furthermore, he has the tendency to team up with Mateusz Klich and Kalvin Phillips.

Possibilities

The only way Leeds could lure the youngster is to secure promotion to the Premier League next season.

Difficulties

Nandez is on the radar of Serie A clubs Sampdoria, Fiorentina, and Cagliari and the release clause is presumed to be around £12 million. (h/t HITC)

If Leeds were able to afford such a huge price, it would be the club’s record transfer since Robbie Fowler.

The Whites are set to face Millwall this Saturday at Elland Road after suffering a defeat against Sheffield United.
