Leeds United Opinion – Whites in for Ryan Nolan – Good Move?

According to a report in Brighton Independent, Leeds United are in a tough race with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Inter Milan defender Ryan Nolan during this transfer window.

The 20-year-old Republic of Ireland U18 international hasn’t played senior football so far but he is a high-quality player with a bright future ahead of him.

Born in Ireland, Nolan moved to Spain before making a move to Inter’s U17 team in 2015. He then shifted to the Italian side’s U19 team in 2016 and played well for them.

During the course of the 18/19 season, the youngster played in the Italian Primavera and UEFA Youth League. Here’s why Leeds United should beat Brighton to sign the Irishman during this transfer window:

Whites could do with more options at the back

Ryan Nolan is a quality young talent, who can play on either side of the central defence. He has improved his game massively over the course of the last 12-15 months, thus registering an interest from two big clubs in England.

During the 18/19 campaign, the Irishman played 42 games in all competitions and was one of the impressive players for the Inter Milan Primavera, U19 and UEFA U19 team.

In terms of his attributes, despite being an upcoming talent, Nolan doesn’t mind aerially challenging for balls against centre-forwards. He is good at reading the game and making tackles and can pass the ball from the back while being a threat in the opposition box during set-pieces.

All in all, it has to be said that Leeds United can benefit more from having him in their squad ahead of the start of the new season. Nolan hasn’t played first-team football yet but his progress graph clearly suggests that he would do well once given the opportunity.

Conclusion

Marcelo Bielsa’s men shouldn’t hesitate to make a move to sign Ryan Nolan from Inter Milan. They must be proactive as Brighton are also in the race.
