Leeds United are leading the Championship after eight games for the third straight season

Share

Leeds United missed out on promotion last season after losing to Derby in the playoffs.

Leeds United have been in excellent form in the Championship this season and are on top of the league.

The Whites have one of the best managers in the history of the game in Marcelo Bielsa, however, they just haven’t been able to return to the Premier League.

Leeds have lost just one game from their opening eight and are tied at the top with Swansea on 17 points.

The aim has to be a return to the Premier League at the end of the season, however, being top doesn’t always guarantee automatic promotion.

Bielsa’s team have been great in the opening games for the last three seasons and have led the Championship at this point in each of the campaigns too.

Third time lucky for Leeds?

Leeds were one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League in the 90s and early 2000s, however, they were relegated to League One at the end of the 2006-07 season from the Championship.

The Whites were also Champions League semi-finalists during their Premier League stay and are one of the most supported clubs in England.

Marcelo-Bielsa-

Bielsa’s team have been a mainstay in the Championship for close to nine years, however, their best finish came in the previous campaign where they reached the playoffs but couldn’t reach the final.

That should provide them with a great base for this campaign and Bielsa needs to use all his experience to get them over the line.

The Championship is notoriously tough on teams with games being played almost every 4 days, and it will be interesting to see how Leeds do for the remainder of the season.
