Leeds should plot an ambitious swoop to sign this 22-year-old PL ace currently starring for on-loan club

Leeds United Opinion: Ryan Kent to Leeds United

English news outlet Bristol Post has reported that Leeds United have entered the race for Liverpool starlet Ryan Kent. While the young forward is contracted to Liverpool, the 22-year-old is on loan at Rangers.

That comes as no surprise, especially after the season that Kent has had so far on loan. The 22-year-old has had his fair share of issues with injuries and suspensions, but has still made 39 appearances so far and produced 15 goals.

Not only that, Kent’s played 9 games in the Europa League, giving him crucial experience for the battles ahead. It has shown to improve the young winger, with him scoring six goals so far, a joint career best.

However, it’s his creative nature that Leeds United need more at the moment. This season, the Peacocks have been depending heavily on Pablo Hernandez and Mateusz Klich. While they’ve combined to created 20 goals so far this season, a large majority has been created by Hernandez.

This may not be an issue not but the Spaniard is 34 years old and may not be able to cope with the Premier League. The English top tier’s pace and ferocity often see players struggle to make an impact before being subsequently released into the wild again.

That has been an issue, especially with newly promoted clubs, with Fulham the latest to suffer. Things could, however, also go the other way and instead, Hernandez makes an incredible impact, but that is unlikely to happen.

Ryan Kent, on the other hand, has shown that he is clinical in front of goal, extremely creative in the final third and has flourished in the Scottish Premiership. The Scottish top tier is notorious for being a very physical league and as such tough to adjust to.

Yet Kent walked into the first team, with only injuries, and suspensions stopping him. That does make any transition to a league in England much easier, although the way things are going, Leeds United are likely to play Premier League football.

The Peacocks currently sit in third place but are level on points with second place Sheffield United. Two losses in their last five games have seen them drop, but Marcelo Bielsa’s men are still the favourites.

Conclusion

Leeds United need reinforcements next season and adding someone as talented as Ryan Kent would reinforce their side for the better. The 22 year old is talented and has a rather bright future, which if the Peacocks do nothing, then the Rangers might take advantage of. That is something that Marcelo Bielsa and company will regret.
