Leeds beating Aston Villa for this 25-year-old PL prospect would boost their title hopes

Why Leeds should beat Aston Villa for the signature of Kadeem Harris

According to a report in Sun Football, Championship clubs Leeds United and Aston Villa are interested in signing Cardiff City winger Kadeem Harris. The 25-year-old is yet to open talks with Neil Warnock’s men over a new deal to keep him in Wales beyond this season.

The London-born player has been in fine form in the past few games, reviving Cardiff’s place in the Premier League. He scored in their 4-2 win over Fulham a month ago and played a key part in his side’s late win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Those two wins have put the Welsh team very close to the survival places. They are currently 18th in the table with eight points, same as Southampton and Crystal Palace, who are occupying 17th and 16th place respectively.

As a result of Harris’ form, Leeds and Villa are interested in him, especially knowing the fact that he is out of contract at the end of this season. However, here’s why the Peacocks should take more interest and sign the 25-year-old before the Birmingham club comes with an offer:

Leeds’ need for an attacking wide man

The Whites, after making a dream start to life under Marcelo Bielsa, have stumbled in the past month or so. They won four of their opening fives league games of the season, managing to win only four in the next 12 games.

The form of Ezgjan Alioski hasn’t improved so far, and once Pablo Hernandez got injured for a month, they struggled to replace him and desperately waited for the Spaniard to come back.

Hence, it is fairly evident that signing a new winger in the winter transfer window will make a lot of sense. For that reason, targeting someone like Kadeem Harris is a good decision.

The 25-year-old has everything a wide attacker should possess – pace, directness with the ball, trickery, can shoot by cutting inside if the defenders are not close. But most importantly, the Englishman is a hard-working player off the ball as well, which could be handy to the way Bielsa likes his forward players to operate.

It would be tough for the player to leave the Premier League and join a Championship club but with Leeds aiming to get back to top-flight football next season, the 25-year-old might get tempted by that prospect.
