Is Leaving The Club The Best Option For This Age-Long Manchester United Servant?

Wayne Rooney has been one of the greatest players in Manchester United history, as he has been the referent of this team despite the retirement of figures like Gary Neville, or the departures of Rio Ferdinand, and since his arrival at Old Trafford, Rooney has eaten, breathed, drank and dreamed Manchester United.

However, things are not very well for him or his team from the past couple of years. Manchester United started the season with high expectations, buying some great players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Paul Pogba, in addition to the signing of the “Special One”, Jose Mourinho.

Everything seemed perfect for the “Red Devils” before the start of the season and the first matchday under Mourinho management, but right at this very moment, this fairytale turned into a nightmare for the team, especially the captain and superstar figure, Wayne Rooney.

Wayne landed in Manchester in 2002 after being one of the most prominent England promises during his stay in Everton. He became one of the best players in the world during Sir Alex Ferguson’s era at Old Trafford, being part of great teams and forming big associations with players like Ruud van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo and Robin van Persie.

During his career in Manchester, Rooney was always linked to other teams, especially Real Madrid, but the “Bad Boy” always remained loyal to his team. Now the picture is not the best for Rooney and his teammates, since they are going through one of the biggest crisis in Manchester United history (and I say this exactly because of the history of Manchester United, one of the most successful teams in the world) and with Rooney being closely observed by some teams not only in Europe, but overseas as well.

Wayne Rooney arrived in Manchester as a kid, and he grew up and became a man under the lead of Sir Alex. Wayne gave everything to this club, yes, everything he could give and there is nothing more he can do in this team, but now it’s time to leave the club he loves and look for new horizons.

Mourinho reportedly told him to look for a new team if he wants to have regular first-team football and even when he insists of staying at Manchester, Rooney should look for new opportunities and challenges in a different team and/or league. If he decides to leave Manchester, he will have his reasons to stay up high as he has won 14 titles and has scored 243 goals in 533 matches with “Red Devils”.

Wayne has been of the most important players for this team in the last 20 years; he has already left his mark in Manchester after all his show of loyalty, so now it’s time to take a different path, and Rooney has offers from USA and China if he decides to leave Manchester. So, yes, Wayne Rooney should leave Manchester United, and he should do it as soon as possible, as there is still much left in him.
