Lampard would be absolutely foolish to let go of this extremely talented Chelsea starlet amidst Bundesliga interest

Chelsea opinion: The Blues should hold onto Ampadu

According to a report in the Guardian, Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu is considering leaving the club for Bundesliga side RB Leipzig on a loan deal.

Leipzig are going through a bit of transition with one of the hottest prospects in management in Julian Nagelsmann being hired as the new boss.

Nagelsmann is known for his innovative management techniques and it would be a wonderful opportunity for Ampadu to learn his trade under such a revered manager, who is especially good with younger players.

However, Chelsea also have an exciting young manager in legendary footballer Frank Lampard and Ampadu should think twice before thinking of moving on.

There’s been a recent trend of young English players looking to foreign shores, especially Germany for more first-team opportunities to develop themselves into players and get a hold of what it takes to become a professional footballer.

Ampadu is already a Welsh international at the age of 18, having made his debut in 2017. He is capable of playing at centre-back or as a holding midfielder.

He is also very good with his feet and has great potential to become a top modern-day centre-back. The fact that Ampadu didn’t get a proper look last season under Maurizio Sarri certainly doesn’t help him, however.

He made only 5 appearances in the first-team, which came in the F.A Cup and UEFA Europa League. Frank Lampard has shown during his time at Derby that he is ready to give young players a chance, as he did with Chelsea youngsters Fikayo Tomori and Mason Mount.

Ampadu should look to their example and reconsider that there might be plenty of opportunities for him to play this season, especially after the transfer ban that was imposed on Chelsea for two transfer windows. His versatility will allow him to fill in various positions.

Frank Lampard

Frank Lampard has a massive task ahead of him but should be given the time to build a team in his own image.

Chelsea have traditionally not been a club that offers their managers a lot of time but Lampard was one of the players in the golden age for Chelsea and was a pioneer in their transition into one of the biggest clubs in England and Europe.

If anyone knows what is required to make it to the top, it’s Lampard and Ampadu would learn a lot from him.
