From marquee signings like Griezmann (Barca), Eden Hazard (Real Madrid) to the promising and exciting captures of Joao Felix(ATM), Frenkie de Jong(FCB), Rodrygo Goes(Real), Luka Jovic and Ferland Mendy, La Liga is all set for a power-packed 2019/20 campaign. Not to mention, there are also surprise entrants like Nabil Fekir and Kieran Trippier.
Who is going to be crown the new league champions? Will Barca extend their running spree? Can Zidane be able to break Real Madrid’s hoodoo with their new signings? Will it be the newly revamped Diego Simeone’s squad or is it time for some underdogs? Soccer Predictions can always be a tricky business during pre-season, but have tried to put together a fair piece.
Here are the predictions for the top-4 race.
Atletico Madrid (1)
By and large, Atletico Madrid are one of the clubs that have made most of the current transfer window. To be precise, there have been seven signings until now whilst their pursuit of James Rodriguez and Christian Eriksen is still on the table.
Simeone has managed to overcome the exodus of stars like Griezmann and Godin by bringing in newcomers, who are certainly looking strength-to-strength
The new entrants have already made their impression feel in an emphatic 7-3 win against the star-studded and the fellow rivals Real Madrid. One of the stars who took the limelight was the Portuguese prospect, Felix. Without a tinge of doubt, the 19-year-old will be a menace to the opposition defenders.
That being said, the Rojiblancos are the favourites to clinch the La Liga title after missing out on several occasions over the course.
Though the Catalans are the indisputable kings of Spain over the last decade, winning 8 League trophies, they would find it difficult this term because of the enhancement of competition from fellow clubs.
The Catalans ended as the winners the last term with matches to spare mainly because of the lack of the competency level from the other sides.
But they would be aware how close Simeone’s men were last season and got evaded in the end-thanks to the eternal Presence of Lionel Messi, the real difference-maker.
Notwithstanding the likes of newbies like Griezmann and Dutch midfielder de Jong, Barca still haven’t made any decision on finding the back-ups for Jordi Alba whilst the question still prevails on the out-of-sorts players like Ivan Rakitic and Philippe Coutinho.
Besides, Valverde’s methodology has largely failed especially once his side was put under pressure, which resulted in their Champions League and Copa del Rey slump. Citing all the above rationale, Barcelona would fell short of the League title.
Real Madrid (3)
Things don’t cease to go worse for the Galacticos as they suffered a hammer blow against Diego Simeone’s side in the pre-season friendlies following their idle 2018/19 campaign. The talking point was the defeat occurred amidst the presence of new signings like Jovic and Hazard.
Given the injury of Marco Asensio and their poor streak in La Liga, Los Blancos would struggle to make the ends meet in the upcoming campaign, regardless of their record-breaking transfer-spree.
Sevilla has also had major reinforcements starting from the new manager Julen Lopetegui to the exciting youngster Sergio Regulian, lent from Real Madrid.
Having already made them a club to be watched out for in the upcoming season, the Spanish outfit would tend to cause threat with valuable additions like Luuk de Jong and Lucas Ocampos.
With their new manager, Sevilla would try to raise the bar for the fellow opponents as a means of retaliation for their lacklustre 2018/19 season.
