Why This La Liga Star Linked With A £30m Bid From Manchester United Could Be A Great Signing For Both The Player And The Club

News of Manchester United appointing Jose Mourinho has become the number one news story of the day. The Premier League side sacked Louis van Gaal and the Portuguese manager is set to replace the Dutchman at the club, at least that is what the reports say.

Mourinho would actually bring a pretty similar kind of football at the club. The Portuguese is known for his defensive tactics and the speed of which his teams attack the opposition. One area under Mourinho which has to be extremely good is his midfield setup. Jose, for all the clubs he has managed, always had an effective midfield which could not only snuff out attacks but also ignite them as he won trophy after trophy.

Manchester United do have a problem in midfield with the likes of Michael Carrick and Bastian Schweinsteiger not being on the right side of 30 and with no idea on how to use Marouane Fellaini effectively, the former Chelsea manager could be looking for an upgrade in the side.

One player who has been linked with a £30m bid according to The Sun, is Grzegorz Krychowiak. The Sevilla midfielder lifted another Europa League trophy with the La Liga side and he has been linked for a couple of seasons with a move to England. With Jose Mourinho at the helm, that dream for the Polish midfielder could come true and this signing would make sense for both the player and Manchester United.

A bit of steel in midfield for Manchester United

Arsenal would like to have Grzegorz Krychowiak in their squad

The Polish star is a no nonsense midfielder, who has chipped in with important goals for his club. Grzegorz Krychowiak is only 26 at the moment and is surely going to get better with time. The Sevilla man made 42 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga side and won the man-of-the-match award six times.

Not only that, he also had a successful passing percentage of 85% all season, a pretty good number considering the fact that he does not play for the best Spanish club. Krychowiak is great in the air and his best asset is his tackling. He can also shift in the centre-back’s role if he wants to but that would be something that Mourinho should avoid, nobody wants a Daley Blind like situation rising up again.

Grzegorz Krychowiak isn’t the most consistent player out there but in a midfield with say Morgan Schneiderlin or even Daley Blind next season, he could thrive. He would only be there to destroy the play of the opposition, so expecting him to create much will not be the right thing to do.

The Polish star could be compared to Nemanja Matic of Chelsea but he might not be as strong as the Serbian star that flourished under Jose Mourinho. Matic wasn’t a known figure until after shifting to his defensive position later in his career and with Mourinho again bidding for a player who seems to be growing at the right time, the former Chelsea man might just be onto something.
