La Liga Preview: Real Madrid vs Deportivo

It’s the sixth gameweek in the La Liga and things aren’t looking merry for the Los Merengues. Madrid, presently, seem to be in a pretty disappointing situation considering they’re eight places below the league leaders.

Jose Mourinho must realize that his side would need to pull their socks up in order to even stay in the title race. A loss today will do nothing to help there cause as it would put them 11 points behind Barcelona and miniscule doubts about European qualification would start fleeting around.

Madrid have a fully fit squad for today’s encounter against Deportivo. Fabio Coentrao, the Portuguese left-back is available for selection after completing his four-match suspension. One person to look out for however, is the man who’s struck a vein of form with a hat-trick and an assist against Millonarios, Ricardo Kaka. Cristiano Ronaldo will be itching to hit back at his critics and from what he’s capable of, he wouldn’t disappoint. The Special One will have some tough decisions on his mind when he ponders over his starting line-up. Deportivo manager Jose Luis Oltra has no fresh injury concerns with his team. Their newly acquired on-loan Portuguese striker Nelson Oliviera might be rewarded with a place in the starting lineup over Riki, who’s been hampered by a nasal fracture. Considering Deportivo’s last win at Bernabeu was back in 2004, fortune seems to favor Madrid. However, with the way things are going this season, it ain’t over till its over.
